Tournament eligibility requirements
Recognizing that the primary purpose of student life on campus is academic achievement, to further underscore the importance of continuing academic progress students participating in ACUI tournaments must be enrolled as a student in good standing at the institution they represent. To that end, ACUI hereby establishes the following:

All undergraduate and graduate student participants must be enrolled as a student in good standing at the institution the student represents, as determined by the institution in which the participant is currently enrolled. An individual student’s participation is restricted to five years. Such participation shall be limited to three years for those representing two-year institutions. Certification of eligibility must be made by an authorized staff member.

Determination of ineligibility
A participant can be declared ineligible for competition for any of the following reasons:

  • If he or she participates in any tournament competition under an assumed name.
  • If he or she has signed a professional contract or is classified as a professional by a respective governing or tournament organization in the tournament event of the ACUI recreation program team in which he or she chooses to participate.
  • If he or she accepts any financial assistance from a professional organization or commercial organization for use of his or her name or picture when this use clearly implies endorsement of any product.
  • If he or she receives remuneration other than for the expenses that might be incurred in his or her travel to and from the studio for radio or television appearances relating to the respective tournament activity conducted by ACUI in which he or she chooses to participate.
  • If he or she accepts awards that are not acceptable to the institution or other recognized association to which his or her institution belongs.
  • If he or she does not meet the tournament requirements.
  • Participants competing in the recreational bowling event at the regional level may not have ever appeared on an intercollegiate bowling roster.
